Billing Information

Gresham Family Law believes in being up front with how we work so you can make an informed decision to work with us.

  1. New clients who have never been to Gresham Family Law, P.C. before will be given the opportunity to have an initial consultation with Stephanie at a flat fee depending on their case type.

  2. All other work will be billed by Stephanie and staff at the hourly listed rates below:

  3. Stephanie LH Barrie

    $200 per hour

    Legal Assistant

    $100 per hour

    Secretary

    $60 per hour

    Lawyer Travel Time

    $200 per hour

    Staff Travel Time

    $100 per hour

  4. Should you decide to retain Stephanie’s services after your initial consultation you will be required to sign a written retainer agreement and deposit a retainer into a trust account.  Your retainer amount is decided based on the complexity and issues of your case and is not intended to be a maximum nor minimum amount of the firms charges. The total fee of a contested case will be based on the total time spent by Attorney, work required due to the legal position taken by the opposing party, and the occurrence of any extraordinary unanticipated legal problem.

  5. The trust retainer will be applied towards any fee incurred.  If your case is concluded and a part of your trust retainer remains after the Attorney fees and costs are paid, the balance of the retainer will be refunded to you. If the balance of your trust account is depleted prior to the conclusion of your case then you will be required to deposit additional fees in order for Gresham Family Law, P.C. to complete your work.  If you incur additional fees and there are no funds in your trust account, payment on those fees will be due in full upon receipt of your bill.

Please remember that completion of the work on your case does not necessarily end with the signing of your dissolution.

  6. Services for which you will be charged will include consultations and telephone calls with you, witnesses, other lawyers, or any other person associated with your case; legal research; long-distance phone charges; postage; drafting and preparing legal documents; drafting and preparing letters; depositions; trial preparation; travel time; parking fees; investigation fees; court appearances; and all other necessary services and  expenses.  You will be charged by fractions of an hour to the nearest one-tenth; however, all telephone calls will be charged at a minimum of one-tenth of an hour and all telephone calls to Attorney’s home will be charged at double the rate of the attorney’s hourly fee.

  7. Gresham Family Law, P.C. will send you itemized monthly billing statements.  Any billing questions should be handled immediately upon receipt of your bill.  We will never charge to discuss any issues that arise in our bills.

  8. Gresham Family Law, P.C. accepts VISA, MASTERCARD and DISCOVER credit cards as well as cash, personal/business checks and money orders.
